Consulting & Capital for Mission-Driven Organizations

The throughline that ties it all together.

Red Thread Capital brings the strategic discipline of the world's largest brands to today's mission-driven leaders. We contribute every form of capital — intellectual, financial, and relational — with the technology sensibility to help purpose scale. We gravitate to organizations at the experiential edge of health and wellness — where tangible, human-centered experiences build community and positively impact people's lives.

An ancient metaphor with a simple meaning.

The red thread is an ancient metaphor with a simple meaning: the thing that ties it all together. It appears in folklore across many cultures — where an unseen thread is said to connect those destined to meet — and in the language of strategy, where it names the throughline that gives a thesis its shape.

Red Thread Capital was built on both ideas: that the most valuable role a partner can play is to see the connections others miss, and to bring every form of capital we have — intellectual, financial, and relational — to the founders building the future of health and wellness.

We hold an equally enduring conviction about the category itself: that true wellbeing is the integration of mind, body, and spirit — nurtured in community and sustained through connection. The companies worth backing understand that health is relational, and they build for that truth — using technology and AI to extend that relationship, never to replace it.

Our work is to find those companies early, identify the thread that runs through their potential, secure it, and bring it to life in ways that positively impact people's lives — building the foundation, fueling the growth, and shaping a company built to endure.

Mission driven. Business rooted.

No margin, no mission.
A worthy purpose still requires a viable business to sustain it.
Doing well by doing good.
Doing good for communities, clients, and ourselves isn't in tension — they reinforce each other.
Execution is everything.
Speed is imperative, and perfection cannot be the enemy of progress.
Mind, body, spirit, community.
Wellbeing is relational — nurtured in connections between people, purpose, and place.
Positive impact, daily.
In every interaction, and in every business we build.
Profit with purpose.
Non-profit mission, for-profit fundamentals — both possible, both necessary.
Tech in service of humanity.
We're technology-forward and AI-savvy — using both for speed, scale, and access, never in place of a person or human connection.

Hands on. Hierarchy-free.

We meet clients where they are — whether that's building from scratch, tackling specific problems, or identifying new opportunities for growth. No "them and us." No ego. Just shared mission and shared work.

We approach every problem with genuine curiosity, ready to learn alongside the people closest to it.

Laura Kunzelmann
Laura Kunzelmann
Founder & Principal

Laura is co-founder of Red Thread Capital, bringing marketing rigor, industry fluency, and the ability to translate strategy into action to founders building the future of health and wellness. For Laura, Red Thread is the answer to a question she's carried for years: how to bring the strategic muscle built at the world's largest brands to the founders whose missions matter most — at the stage where doing the work well makes the biggest difference. Where Ian sees the systems and the connections, Laura brings the practitioner's discipline — aligning purpose with execution and helping founders build companies where every function moves in the same direction.

Laura's foundation is more than twenty-five years in senior marketing leadership, most of it as a Partner at Grey NYC, where she anchored the senior team through seventeen years of year-over-year growth. Her health-focused portfolio spanned C-suite work with UPMC, Pfizer Consumer Healthcare, and GSK, along with retail pharmacy (Walgreens, Boots), health insurance (Aetna), and OTC and Rx categories; she launched Grey's consulting practice for emerging health-tech companies, and her versatility extended into beauty (Sephora, Estée Lauder), spirits (Diageo, Crown Royal, Ketel One), and entertainment (Disney).

Laura's passion for health and wellness isn't only professional — it's how she lives. She holds Yoga Teacher Training Certification, completed the Harvard Medical School Executive Education program in Lifestyle and Wellness Coaching, and trained in compassionate listening through Community of Hope International, adding practitioner insight to the strategic and commercial fluency she developed at Grey.

Outside the office, Laura lives what she practices — hiking, skiing, running, surfing, and yoga. Health and wellness permeate her household, too: she is a proud single parent to two teenage daughters — both aspiring nurses, one already in nursing school and the other trained as a Certified Nurses Assistant.

Ian E. Warburg
Ian E. Warburg
Founder & Principal

Ian is co-founder of Red Thread Capital, where he brings intellectual, financial, and relational capital to founders building the future of health and wellness. He and Laura came together around a shared conviction: that the discipline scaled across the world's largest brands is precisely what entrepreneurial, purpose-driven founders need — at the stage where thoughtful guidance compounds. Ian's role is to see the systems and the connections others miss, pull the thread that runs through a company's potential, and help build something meant to endure.

Ian's foundation is more than thirty years of executive leadership, primarily with Green Stamp America, Inc., a diversified global investment and management firm across real estate, retail, sport, and hospitality. Leading Green Stamp's Asian business, he facilitated Le Labo Fragrances' launch in Japan (positioning it for its later acquisition by Estée Lauder) and Via Quadronno's expansion into Hong Kong and Tokyo. In the U.S., he developed Golf Club of Purchase (a Jack Nicklaus signature course), led The LS Collection luxury brand, partnered with YOU Technology on loyalty deployment in Japan, and shepherded the W Hotels launch with Victoria International Corporation (later RavenHouse).

His years at Green Stamp left Ian fascinated by the diversity of people, organizations, and enterprises he encountered — a curiosity that eventually led him back to the classroom for Master's degrees in Organizational Development (American University) and Marriage and Family Therapy (Southern Connecticut State University), plus mediation certification from the Center for Understanding in Conflict. In the chapter that followed, Ian drew on that combination of business rigor and therapeutic insight to build a practice as a therapeutically informed Personal Development and Leadership Coach, lead a small family office through more than a decade of double-digit growth, and deepen his forty-year involvement with STAR Retreats (Self-Transformation through Awareness and Reconnection) as facilitator and board advisor. He co-founded Soundview Empowerment Alliance and Save Westport Now, and serves on the board of the Aquaya Institute, advancing global health through universal access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene.

American-born to a Canadian mother and English grandparents, Ian spent his formative years in the Philippines and continues to explore the world with restless curiosity. He is a dedicated father to six adult children whose global pursuits keep him busy — and, as he puts it, keep his own learning very much alive.

Building. Growing.

Mission-driven organizations doing work that matters — where our craft, capital, and community meet theirs for outsized impact.

An online community providing non-therapeutic grief support to people navigating loss.

Dedicated to providing high-quality emotional, caregiving, parenting, relationship skills, education, training, and supportive group discussions to the rare disease community at no cost.

Immersive, transformative retreats built on a proven methodology of Self-Transformation through Awareness and Reconnection — guiding personal growth for over four decades.

Let's talk.

An invisible thread connects those destined to meet.
